Now Accepting Applications for New Volunteers
After a pause in volunteer services due to COVID-19, we will begin inviting volunteers back to our facilities this fall and winter. To help maintain a safe environment in which to give and receive care, volunteer reactivation will occur in phases, beginning with a limited number of volunteer roles. Existing volunteers will be notified when they may return.
Thank you for donating your time to help make Northwestern Medicine better.
Giving the gift of time
Volunteer services are vital to our mission of delivering patient-centered care and ensuring that every person who enters our doors has a positive experience.
Our 2,500 volunteers provide patients, hospital departments and staff with capable and dedicated service, contributing almost 287,000 hours annually.

Reasons to Volunteer
While your generous gift of time helps others feel relaxed and welcome, it also benefits you in many ways. Northwestern Medicine volunteers have the opportunity to:
- Share skills and talents with others
- Discover new interests
- Feel valued and needed
- Gain new perspectives and experiences
- Learn additional skills
- Meet new people
Along with the many personal benefits, Northwestern Medicine volunteers also receive free annual flu vaccines, invitations to events and discounts at participating retailers.
